Candle Care 101: How to Make Your Candle Last Longer

Burning a luxury candle provides more than just scent - it’s a whole experience. Proper care ensures a cleaner burn, longer life, and maximum fragrance throw. Here’s everything you need to know to get the most out of your Bellini Candle Co. candles.

The First Burn: Setting the Foundation

  • The first burn is the most important!
  • Always burn until the wax melts evenly across the top surface to prevent tunneling.
  • With our premium coconut wax, this can take 2–4 hours, depending on the candle’s size.

Trim the Wick for a Clean Burn

  • Always trim your wooden wick to 1/8 inch before each burn. This will help prevent excessive smoke, soot, and uneven burning.
  • Use a wick trimmer for precision. If you don’t have a wick trimmer, simply pinch off the old char from the tip of the wooden wick before relighting.

Burn Time Matters

  • Avoid burning candles for more than 4 hours at a time.

Keep Your Candle Clean

  • Remove wick trimmings and debris from the wax pool.
  • Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and scent loss. Candles that are exposed to sunlight (next to a window) tend to ‘yellow’ over time.

Extinguish with Care

  • Use a candle snuffer instead of blowing it out to reduce smoke and wax splatter.

Reaching the End: When to Stop Burning

  • Stop burning when there is ½ inch of wax remaining at the bottom of the vessel. This will prevent the glass from overheating and potentially cracking.
  • Repurpose your candle jars into planters, makeup brush organizers, or trinket jar.

A little candle care goes a long way in preserving the luxury experience. Following these tips will ensure your Bellini Candle Co. candle burns beautifully and last as long as possible.
